The People Behind Selinofos
Teaching at Selinofos is based on personal guidance, meaningful knowledge and freedom of artistic expression. Each lesson is tailored to the needs, abilities and goals of every student.
Through painting, drawing, architecture and theory, the aim is to develop observation, technique and, above all, personal creative thinking.
Aimilios Agorou
Founder & Artistic Director
Painter · Graduate of the School of Fine Arts, University of Ioannina
Born in 1997 and originally from Distrato, Konitsa, he lives and works permanently in Ioannina. He is a graduate of the School of Fine Arts at the University of Ioannina.
He has participated in solo and group exhibitions in cities and villages across Greece, guided by the belief that artistic activity and engagement with art should extend beyond major urban centres.
His artistic and creative practice encompasses painting, illustration, stage design and art workshops, as well as writing on art, history and culture.
Artistic & Cultural Activity
In May 2026, he participated in the exhibition “My Palestine” by Pela Kalogirou, at the Youth Centre of the Municipality of Chalandri. As part of the exhibition, he participated as a speaker in the thematic event “The Painting of Palestine”, organised by the Cultural Network for Palestine and curated by him.
He has also written articles and features on art and its history. Among the subjects he has explored are Palestinian painting, the Protest Art of the Reportage Painters in 1950s Japan, the history of American comics, as well as features on artists and works of art.
Stage Design & Illustration
He was responsible for the stage design of the music, dance and theatre production “Gyni Andreia” in Karpenisi, presented by the Cultural Association “Vallizein”. As part of the performance, painting was incorporated live into the stage action, with painted scenes inspired by the performance itself being created in real time, producing the impression of a “moving” painting on stage.
In the field of illustration, he illustrated the children's story “ONEIROPLANA”, published by Ocelotos, and has also delivered art workshops for children.
Distinctions
In 2025, he received a commendation / distinction in the Painting Competition “Human Anatomy” organised by Democritus University of Thrace.

Mara Bousi is an Architect Engineer and graduate of Democritus University of Thrace, a PhD candidate at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and holds a Master's degree from the University of Glasgow.
She studied Architecture at Democritus University of Thrace and continued her studies in Scotland, where she completed postgraduate studies in Urban Planning and Urban Regeneration στο University of Glasgow.
Academic & Research Activity
She is currently undertaking her doctoral research at Αριστοτέλειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλονίκης, in the field of Urban and Regional Planning.
Her research focuses on new forms of habitation in the mountain settlements of Epirus, examining issues related to space, habitation, design and contemporary transformations of the built environment.
Professional Experience
She has ten years of professional experience in architectural practices and design firms in Ioannina, Preveza and Thessaloniki.
Her professional experience includes projects of different scales and types, ranging from the design of retail spaces and holiday homes and the renovation of interiors, to participation in large-scale urban regeneration projects.
She also works as a freelance architect based in Ioannina, maintaining professional collaborations in Patras and Thessaloniki.
Teaching Experience
Since 2015, she has been teaching in private schools and adult seminars, bringing her academic and professional experience into the educational process.
She teaches Interior Architecture & Decoration, Freehand Drawing and Linear Drawing, with the aim of developing both students' technical skills and their understanding of design.
Design Approach
Key tools in both her professional practice and teaching are architectural sketching and analogue drawing, which she combines with contemporary methods of 3D and photorealistic design.
By combining hand drawing with contemporary digital tools, her teaching approach focuses on understanding space, composition, scale and the visual communication of an architectural idea.
